DESCRIPTION

Grown in plantations in northern Australia without the use of chemicals or pesticides.  This Native Rosella pieces can be found in tropical and sub tropical areas of the east coast of Australia.

A new naturalised Australian native plant has been here for around a thousand years and thought to have been bought over from Indonesia.

The whole plant is edible and the young leaves are great in salads.

The calyx is the hero part of the plant after flowering.  It grows into a fruit like calyx which has a Tart, raspberry flavour which can be used in sweet and savoury dishes as well as in beverages.

Tastes similar to Rhubarb and Raspberry.  Makes an amazing Tea and colours the water red with its pigments.

Use the dried Fruit or Powder to make cordials, jellies, sauces, sorbets, syrups, tea, jams, chutneys, fruit salads and compotes, deserts, cold beverages or use as a food garnish.

Rosella calyx fruit are a good source of vitamin C, antioxidants (like anthocyanin).
